June 18th 2012 marked a very special day for HOCKtoberfest.
Since HOCKtoberfest dropped its first puck in 2008, our vision was to ensure that female hockey continue to grow and develop in our area.
We could not have made this dream possible without the co-operation and blessing of the Sun Parlour Female Hockey Association. They believed in our idea 6 years ago and today, we were able to show our gratitude. We presented the SPFHA board with a cheque for $5000.00 and they were not only surprised but overwhelmed and excited. This money will be used to dress a child who may not have the money for equipment, it may pay the registration fee that some cannot afford or it can be used to develop opportunities & skill development for the many who want to play this wonderful sport. You see, hockey is much more than the game. It’s a lifetime of memories, it’s a bond that teaches our girls about celebration, disappointment, teamwork and friendships. It has also produced some very talented athletes who have gone on to be some of the world’s finest mentors, teachers and idols.
The entire HOCKtoberfest board, past and present, have worked very hard to reach this goal and we are extremely proud to share with such a tremendous group of people.
